Rearranging Some Stuff…

by Emily Steers on 03/31/2011

Our house really isn’t that big– it’s less than a thousand feet, and houses me, my fiance, a forty-five pound chow, and seventy pound pit bull, and David’s home studio.

So we rearrange the furniture every now and then, to make sure that we can fit everything we need, and maybe help the flow of the house a little bit.

The water damage in the closet was a benefit, oddly, because it lit a fire under our butts to clean out the crap we carried with us from our separate apartments.

All this stuff.  Two giant boxes, a styrofoam cooler, and a boatload of useless papers have now been recycled.

Another boatload of useless papers have been shredded, so no one can, say, steal our identities.

We moved David’s Poang chair to his office, and kept the small white couch in front of the fireplace.  Here’s how the house looks now.

Things are a little snug in the living room, but Margo doesn’t seem to mind.  I wish the front door swung in the other direction, but so it goes.

David seems to be enjoying the layout, too.  He’s a bit upset that UNC is losing to Kentucky.  Carson just wants snuggles.

I like how the white couch kind of calms down the Bachelor Couch.  The big black leather thing that we can’t rationalize getting rid of right now.

Again, things are little snug with the couch right there, but I like the feeling of having a fireplace conversation area.

David’s studio looks much more open now, with just the Poang chair sitting there.

Two recent additions are this antique climate map, and– oh yeah– that gorgeous Epiphone guitar.

I’m not really a guitar girl, but this particular one is gorgeous.  David got it so he could make some sort of distortion noise for his latest disc of music.

How often do you rearrange your furniture?

I rearrange my office space about twice a year. However, I don’t seem to have the spatial eye for rearranging flowers, or arranging flowers for that matter.

we’ve actually already moved the white couch to a different spot by the fireplace. i think we need a couple of wire-y modern chairs & we’ll have a different sort of conversation nook by the fireplace. pictures forthcoming.

Love it! It’s so cozy. :) I used to move our furniture every couple of months while we were living in apartments, but since we bought our house I haven’t moved things too much. Maybe that’s why I’ve been on this redecorating streak lately…. :)

I love that there are separate areas of the living room! I’d totally snuggle and do lots of reading on the white couch and then do some TV watching in the evenings on the other couch :) It’s beautiful! We NEVER rearrange our furniture because our place is too small to do much. Small, but it has so many perks, we’d rather live here than a bigger place (new, big kitchen, pool, gym, etc!)
